eBay Selling Tip - Weak Headlines and Poor Auction Descriptions Lose Bids

September 14th, 2007 by Guest Author

There are over seven million items listed on eBay every day. Your headline must stand out above the competition to attract bidders. A great headline should contain two key elements: “Key words” that are searchable, and “emotional words” designed to attract attention.

Over 60% of bidders find the item they are looking for by using the “Search” feature. Unless you use the key words bidders are looking for, you will miss many bids. For example, if someone collects Ferrari Formula 1 model cars, they will search “Ferrari” rather than “Formula 1″ or “model cars.” A search of “Ferrari” turns up 41 items, while “Formula 1″ turns up a few thousand items. A search of “Blue & White” will turn up thousands of listing in the pottery section, but a search for “Liberty Blue” (a specific type of blue & white pottery) turns up only a few hundred items.

Your headline should also include “emotional” words designed to attract a bidder’s attention. Read the rest of this entry »

eBay Selling – Why Start an eBay Business?

September 13th, 2007 by Guest Author

Every single day people just like you and I are making a very lucrative living selling on ebay. There are many reasons why you should start an ebay business of your own.

The first and foremost reason might be that you will be able to run the business entirely from your home. You will not need to commute to a 9 to 5 job that you don’t like in the first place, spend money on gas to get back and forth to work, spend money on work clothes, be able to stay at home with your children– no more expensive day care, you can even work in your P.J.s (nobody will know).

The second reason is that you can start this business with little or no money. All you need to get started is a computer, an internet connection, an open mind, and a camera to take pictures of the product you plan to sell. If you already have these items at home, you are halfway there.

Now comes the work part. You will first need to go to the ebay site and familiarize yourself with the way they do business. You need to read through all of the pages they offer with tips for the entrepreneur. Next you will check out their auctions to see which items are selling at this time. Once you establish what is selling well, you need to find a product in this category to sell. This item should be something you would buy yourself when shopping on ebay.

Once you figure that out, you need to find a product in one of those categories that you are excited about, it should be something you would buy yourself. Think about what type of people who would want to buy this particular item. What might they do for a living, what their hobbies are, what age group they fall into, and their yearly income. This will tell you what your niche market is. There are over 125 million eBay users, worldwide. And each of them is looking for something to bid on. Read the rest of this entry »
