If you’re ready to stand in line with thousands all over the world who are already making money on ebay then before anything else there are three very crucial and important things you must do to be able to sell on ebay successfully. Three sure-fire foundational secrets for ebay selling success! According to ebay, of their 115 billion users, 90% of them are buyers. In light of that, we can see a very encouraging fact that making money on ebay is very much possible!

Ebay powersellers know full well these three secrets. They are not complex at all, but in their simplicity most users fail to accomplish them which is why it comes as no surprise that they are not making money on ebay.

The first secret in able to make money on ebay is to find out what you are passionate about. Many start their ebay businesses by selling as a hobby, a past-time they could do on the weekend, or just by clearing out some old dust-covered collections from their High School and College days. Through these things they find other people who share the same interests and from these same shared interests business opportunities arise and could be a very positive way to making money on ebay.

Not a hobbyist or a collector? No worries, many people have cultivated a passion in finding great deals that they can auction in their respective ebay auction houses.

The second and more often than not, virtually unknown secret is research. Thoroughly researching the merchandise you are selling. In other words being well versed in the items you are auctioning through research.

To illustrate the importance of research to making money on ebay you must understand that selling on ebay is part of a billion dollar industry. In the first half of 2005 alone ebay sellers have sold over 10.5 billion dollars worth of merchandise. One of the greatest challenges here is finding out what exactly people want and discovering how much they are willing to pay for them. This takes research. Serious and conscious research. This doesn’t mean though that all the research you should do is go into the National Library and shut yourself in to get all the information you need, though that could help, but not really practical. The research needed here are constant and conscious endeavors, from reading the trends in magazines, looking at developments in television and advertisements, studying the changes in certain industries, even by walking through stores or even listening and talking to people about their own interests, all these can greatly assist you in finding the best product to sell on ebay.

Finally, the secret that most aspiring ebay sellers miss, if you are serious about making money on ebay, you have to treat it seriously and view it as a real business. This is because it is a business, and more often than not, since you can do it at home, in your pajamas, it is treated lightly which is why most do not succeed in selling on ebay. As an ebay seller your mindset must be that of a business person.

Have a chat with any ebay power seller and they will tell you that they follow certain routines that they are working on or thinking about their business everyday. You will be surprised how much of a difference this mindset can make in the success or failure of your ebay business.

Almost anybody can make money on ebay, thing is that only those that are serious about making money on ebay can actually do it successfully. Selling as a hobbyist can only take you so far, actually not far at all. You must have the mindset and the discipline of a business man to go through all the nitty-gritty stuff, even in research. But of course all must be drawn from your passion. If you’re not passionate about it then you’ll get burned-out down the road. Let this mindset and your passion drive you to take the time to go through the market and research potential best selling items at the best possible prices while keeping your losses at a minimum. Making money on ebay can actually be fun and undoubtedly provide a very rewarding lifestyle.
